Declawing your cat is a procedure that should be given much consideration. It is a very extensive, permanent surgical procedure that amputates the last joint of your cat’s toes. We do require a negative Felv/Fiv test and pre-anesthetic blood work be done prior to the surgery as this will decrease anesthetic complications. We have developed strict anesthetic guidelines, as well as multimodal pain management to minimize the discomfort while at the clinic and at home during recovery. We keep the patient over night to monitor for any complications. If you are considering declawing your cat and want to know other options, please feel free to talk to one of our staff members.
